The Department of Pollution Studies was started in 1979, with a grant-in-aid of Rs.5.0 lakhs, from UGC, New Delhi under its scheme of “Restructed Course.”

In 1984, the course was aided by Govt. of Maharashtra on full grant basis. It is the only department in Maharashtrato provide specialization in Pollution Studies. The department has organizes guest lectures, seminars, contests, group discussions, short-term courses, case study reports, study tours which help to increase interest and research attitude in students. The department conducts self-financing short term courses on Disaster Management and Certificate course on Water Quality Assessment. In addition to this, the department always promote the students to be involved in extracurricular and co- curricular activities as much as possible while attending college.

The staff employees take part in conferences, seminars and workshops at state, national and international levels. The department is strengthened by the dedicated faculty members including Dr. R.K.Trivedi and Dr.P.K.Goel who made us of their abilities.

1) Pollution (B.Sc.II and B.Sc.III levels)
2) Environmental Studies (Compulsory Course for all B.Sc.II students)

1) Laboratory: 31ft. × 23ft.=713 sq. ft.
2) Sitting Place: 9.5ft. × 31ft. =295 sq. ft.

The department has almost all equipment and instruments used for pollution studies such as spectrophotometer, pH meter, conductivity meter,Nephelometer, plankton net, Sedgwick Raffer Cell,ovens and incubator, inverted microscope, high speed centrifuge, air pollution studies chamber and electronic and monopan balances.The departmental library has a good collection of books and research journals of Indian and foreign authors. More than 600 books are available in our central library from various areas of the Pollution.

The students from this department are working on high positions in India and abroad. Some renowned Companies where the students are working as Senior Engineer, Senior Executive, General Manger, Senior Research Consultant while some students are self employed with well established own businesses such as environmental consultancy.
